Molly and Shane. An Austin Engagement Session, Bar Stools to Park Grass.

Our favorite engagement sessions are structured like a good date, and Molly and Shane’s was exactly that. It started in a booth: teal leather, a table crowded with cocktails and plates, Shane in plaid laughing at something Molly said mid-bite. The camera might as well not have been there, which is the highest compliment a session can earn.

From there we moved outside to a green, tree-lined park as the light went soft. Molly wrapped her arms around Shane from behind, ring catching the last of the day, and the session ended the way the best ones do, with two people who forgot they were being photographed.

If you are nervous about engagement photos, build the session around something you actually do together. Order the drinks. Split the fries. The photos take care of themselves.

What should you do during an engagement session in Austin? Start somewhere you already love, a bar, a coffee shop, a taco spot, then finish outdoors near golden hour. Friesen Co plans every Austin engagement session around the couple’s real habits, not a shot list.
